Your Part of the World – Love It or Leave It…or Both?

A long time ago I chose my current location with purpose, yearning for somewhere prettier than where I lived, a new home that was better, more exciting. More me. Moving across the country I found it here, just as I knew I would, amidst the dichotomy of bucolic hills of green mixed up with the fast pace that is life on the East Coast.

My move into this entirely unknown territory caused me not an iota of regret. In fact, I quickly discovered, as I fanned out from my little spot in Connecticut, even more appeal existed than what I had packed up and moved across the country to live amongst. Islands jutting out of the water out in the Atlantic Ocean, a shoreline with beautiful beaches stretching for miles, exciting cities in addition to the Big Two – New York and Boston.

I love it here.

At the same time, though, living in one spot for a long time can be very limiting. Although this part of the country is pure me, I want to uproot and take off again. So much more of the world awaits, wanting me to dig in deep and get to know it.

What about you? Are you content to remain in place, whether you are in love with your home or gritting your teeth with toleration, or do you want to shake everything loose and move elsewhere to see what another life holds?

My husband and I usually move every 3-5 years, but we bought the house we live in now, and I don’t see us selling it anytime soon. I think we may go abroad for short periods of time throughout our lives, but we’ll probably always keep our home base here.

Something I’ve been struggling with a lot lately and I’m not sure I can discuss it here. Perhaps in an email later. ;)

I LOVE living in Los Angeles – the weather, the cycling, the scenery is all beautiful.

But the rest of the world won’t stop screaming at me. The world is a total attention whore.

I pretty much keep my sanity by moving — even if its sometimes back to the same places!

Yes, too long in one place can be brain deadening.

I currently go to college in Pennsylvania and am from Maryland. My family moved to another part of Maryland and I sorely miss where we used to live and so I spend a lot of time visiting friends there. But as far as where I want to go after I graduate? I have plans to travel to New Zealand but Austin, Texas is high on my possible move-there list as is Tucson, Arizona and somewhere in California. What can I say? I hate snow! But I am always itching to go somewhere and satisfy that with mini road trips around Pennsylvania and Maryland on the weekends.

Road trips are great. And New Zealand sounds intriguing!

I live in Toronto and while it’s not a great place to visit, it’s an amazing place to live.

I’ll be leaving it in a week for a year long RTW but I’m definitely coming back.

Ever since I was little, I have moved to a few places. I have lived here in CA bay area for the past decade and I can say it’s alright. However, lately I have been itching to move somewhere… out of state? hmmm… I’d like to move to the east coast this time =) I just love the east coast…

Yep, it’s pretty cool up here. Actually, it’s pretty cold.
